The LAB Profile is a psycholinguistic tool – which means it focuses on the language we use to uncover what motivates us and why we behave the way we do in different situations.
This insightful tool offers practical techniques and strategies that you can apply right out of the box – whether you’re building a team, managing your career, or improving workplace communication.
Unlike psychometric tests, which rely on conscious responses to questionnaires, the LAB Profile focuses on the powerful subconscious mind – the 90–95% of ourselves operating below the surface.
It identifies 14 patterns of subconscious thought, split into two categories:
Through relaxed, focused conversations, I analyse not just what people say but how they say it, to uncover how these patterns shape their thinking and behaviour.
Our brain is constantly filtering the billions of bits of information we encounter each day, letting in only what aligns with our focus or expectations.
As well as helping us avoid overwhelm, these mental filters shape how we see the world – influencing our motivations, interactions, and the decisions we make, including hiring and career choices.
The linguist Noam Chomsky described how we subconsciously construct these filters, creating our own perception of reality. For example, assuming we must be terrible at our job because we didn’t get promoted, or making generalisations like ‘interviews never go well for me’.
Whilst these shortcuts can help us process complex information quickly, they can also narrow our thinking and lead to poor or biased decisions.
With the LAB Profile, I help you uncover these filters, understand their impact, and use this knowledge to make informed and confident decisions.

A senior manager in the public sector had recently been promoted and was managing a team of 50 staff.
